Wayfare on Freret

Checked out Wayfare on Freret earlier this week for lunch. It's been open for a couple months now, and I've heard good things and have been meaning to give it a try, but every time I am in the area I get distracted by Ancora, High Hat, or the Company Burger. But this past Tuesday, it was time.

I was intrigued when I came across the specials board outside. It advertised a pressed flank steak and french fry sandwich as well as Indian samosa flavored arancini. Combinations of my favorite foods into one dish (steak + frites, arancini + samosas)! I ordered both dishes at the register and took a seat at the bar (as is my wont.) I had a tropical iced tea, since it was lunch and I was headed back to work afterwards, but the beer list was mostly local/regional and the bottle list was pretty significant.

My samosa arancini balls came out and they were perfection. (the dipping sauce was a wonderful raita-like concoction which I could have eaten up with a spoon.)

The pressed steak frites sandwich was a delicious mashup of the classic bistro steak frites dish and the New Orleans french fry poboy guilty pleasure. It was goooood.

After finishing up the ooey gooey steak frites sandwich with flank steak, french fries, sauteed onions, cheese, and arugula, I got to talking to the bartender and the owner about 1) how delicious the food was and 2) the intriguing beer selection. The owner said that he's interested in expanding the draft selection, so that's some awesome news. They also have happy hours specials, so go over there and support craft beer and awesome food!

I will certainly be returning.
