So, we'd been told that the VIP beer tasting was the way to go (by some of the guys at the Beer Advocate/Avenue Pub meetups). It's a smaller event, it's in our neighborhood, and it has a lot of rare beers to drink.
Here are the beers I had to drink (as far as I can recall)
NOLA Brewing Pomegranate Saison (on cask)
NOLA Brewing ISPA (India Sweet Potato Ale)
Lazy Magnolia Pale Ale (on cask)
Lazy Magnolia Reb Ale
Homebrew: Doghead Fish Gottaminute (Double Imperial Mild)
Homebrew: Angola Summer Wheat
Homebrew: Citrus IPA
Heiner Brau: Alt Ale
Bayou Teche: LA 31 Pale Ale
Bayou Teche: Passion Fruit Wheat Beer
De Ranke XX Bitter
Oud Geuze
Vichtennar Flemish Red Brown Ale
Rogue Brewery: Yellow Snow
Samuel Smith Cherry Beer
Samuel Smith Rasberry Beer
La Goudale Biere de Garde
Brooklyn Brewing Local 1
Harpoon Leviathan Red Ale
There are a few other places listed that I don't remember seeing, and I hope that means they weren't there- some of them sounded awesome.
Crescent Pie and Sausage did the catering- Chaurice, Bratwurst, and Hot Links for sausages, jambalaya, cole slaw, and some sort of bread/fruit/vegetable salad. Yummy stuff, and we're looking forward to checking out the place on our own.
The brewery was hot and sticky until the sun went down- we were all sweating and drinking beer, talking and laughing. Man, that was fun times. It would be awesome to work in the beer industry... I gotta see what possibilities and positions exist on that front.
