It's so nice to be back to NOLA heat and humidity. With the glorious exception of Friday, when the weather was sunny, blue skies, ocean breezes and temps in the 70s:
The rest of the weekend was gray, gloomy, rainy, and cold. No me gusto!
Celebration commenced immediately by lunch with Tom at Jackson Restaurant on Magazine Street near home:
I had a Negroni and and a really wonderful version of shrimp & grits:
Tom had a seared tuna over salad with "Hawaiian dressing" (whatever it was, it was tasty.) He had to go back to the office after lunch, so he stuck to iced tea.
Service was great, the space was lovely, and there were quite a few things on the menu (the shrimp po'boy, the debris po'boy, and the fried chicken sandwich) that particularly stood out. I'd definitely go back- maybe when the weather cools down, go and sit on the balcony. It's on the side of Magazine near us, and is about a block or so down from my yoga studio.
Interestingly enough, when we went to the beer dinner a couple weeks ago, the owner of Jackson was talking up the Bayou Teche owners (who were sitting next to us) so maybe we will soon be able to have Bayou Teche there! Ooh, that reminds me, there's a Bayou Teche LA 31 in the fridge waiting for me...
